01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Tucked into the quiet residential lanes of Shirokane 6-chome, Maki stands as a discreet sushi destination. Though seating is limited, the warm hospitality and calm, welcoming atmosphere allow diners to enjoy an unpretentious, high-quality meal.

Behind the counter, the chef crafts delicate nigiri from seasonal seafood alongside seasonal dishes tailored to pair with sake. Careful technique is evident across the lineup, from shellfish like surf clam and whelk to squid, salmon roe, savory simmered clam, kanpyo gourd rolls, and an egg omelet well regarded for its pillowy, custard-like texture. Guests can unwind over a full omakase progression or chat with the chef to choose specific nigiri that suit their mood for the day.

Reflecting the chef's Aomori heritage, the drink list features a curated selection of regional sake—including Denshu—along with beer and wine to complement each course. Whether dropping by for an approachable lunch menu or settling in for an evening of sushi and drinks, solo diners can feel completely at home throughout their meal. Because seating is limited, booking in advance is advisable, particularly for dinner visits.
